Green to the Core
EverHome Markham uses eco-friendly geothermal energy for heating and cooling. Geothermal is a zero-emission system that harnesses heat from the earth as a source for sustainable, renewable and remarkably affordable energy.
Reduce Emissions by 277 tonnes-CO2e, equivalent to 60 Standard Passenger Vehicles off the Road.
Reduce Emissions by 277 tonnes-CO2e, equivalent to 150 Trees Planted.
Reduce Energy consumption by 1,664-MWh, equivalent to 204,621 20 Minute Hot Showers.
Reduce Water consumption by 2,288,241-L, equivalent to 15,255 Loads of Laundry.
A green roof improves the building’s thermal efficiency, reducing the need for A/C in the summer. It also cuts down on airborne pollutants and keeps warm water out of local streams, which means less stress on vital ecosystems that surround EverHome Markham.
As an environmentally-responsible community, Everhome Markham collects the rainwater with the intention to irrigate the numerous areas in the central green courtyard. It helps reduce stormwater runoff and decreases the burden on the City’s existing drainage system. The system also has the potential to be adapted as back-up water source if needed in case of emergency.
Large, expansive windows with Low-E glass reflect heat back to its source, which keeps things cooler in summer and warmer in winter. They also block harmful UV rays, so you can keep your rooms sunny and bright without worrying about damage to your skin – or its fading effects on furniture.
The City of Markham requires that all new developments pass LEED® certification, which means ensuring energy efficiency and air quality, using sustainable building materials, providing access to public transportation and focusing on responsible land use.
Everhome Markham has met and exceeded all of those requirements with abundant green space, geothermal heating and cooling, green roofs to reduce heat island effect, charging stations for vehicles and bikes, bicycle parking at grade, waste reduction strategies, light sensors for all common areas and energy-efficient, sustainably-sourced building materials. EverHome will be targeting Silver LEED® standards as a minimum.
You’ve got easy access to YRT and TTC Transit stops, and EverHome is just minutes from one of three GO Stations: Mount Joy, Centennial and Markham.
Electric vehicles cut down on both harmful emissions and noise – and we encourage residents to “drive clean” by offering multiple charging stations for electric cars, bikes, skate boards and scooters.
An easy-to-access main floor storage area makes it easy to go for a ride instead of driving, and the repair station has everything you need to pump up tires, oil gears and more.
